Manganese trioxide is an oxide with the chemical formula Mn2O3 and a molecular weight of 157.88. Black cubic crystals. Relative density 4.50. Insoluble in water, acetic acid, and ammonium chloride solutions, soluble in other inorganic acids. Dissolve in cold hydrochloric acid to form a brown solution, in hot dilute sulfuric acid or concentrated sulfuric acid to form a red solution, decompose into MnO2 and manganese nitrate in hot nitric acid, heat to decompose into Mn3O4 and release O2. With α-Mn2O3 and γ-Mn2O3 exists in two forms. α-type is obtained by decomposing divalent manganese nitrate, carbonate or chloride, and hydride in air heated to 600-800 ℃; γ-type is heated by MnO2 in vacuum at 500 ℃ for 78 hours, or by γ-produced by dehydration of MnO (OH). It can be used in the printing and dyeing process of fabrics, as well as in the oxidation process of carbon monoxide and organic matter. It can also be used to synthesize soft magnetic materials or as an important substrate material for synthesizing lithium-ion batteries.

It should be stored in a ventilated and dry warehouse. The bag opening must be tightly sealed to prevent moisture and clumping. It is not allowed to operate in a closed environment with strong acid or strong alkali products, and local ventilation is required. Prevent dust from being released into the workshop air. Operators must undergo specialized training and strictly adhere to operating procedures. It is recommended that operators wear self-priming filter dust masks, protective goggles, work clothes, and rubber gloves. Avoid generating dust. Avoid contact with oxidants and acids.
